Penelope’s of Greece was started 4 decades ago when Penelope Decas traveled to Asia and Europe with Cooley’s Anemia patients looking for a cure and raising funds for Thalassemia, a genetic blood disease that took the life of her youngest son Harry in 1980.
Pennie’s fundraising efforts spanned over 20 years, highlighted by funding and creating the Harry J. Decas Thalassemia Lab at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand, the largest of its kind in Asia.
In 1983, Pennie formed Corporate Alternatives as the personal shopping consultant for a group of venture capitalist companies who wanted Pennie to pick out unique jewelry designs for gift giving. Pennie built her client list as her travel continued for Cooley’s Anemia.
As the Personal Shopping business expanded, Pennie started to focus on her natural connection to the wonders of Greek designers whose tributes to Greek heritage and goldsmith techniques produced some of the world’s best collections.
In 1988, Pennie started her second business, Penelope’s of Greece with the idea that the story of Greek designs could be shared with people through exhibitions and trade shows nation wide.
For 3 decades, Pennie shared her passion and continued her world travels to find collections and designers from the 4 corners of the globe.
Today, Penelope’s of Greece continues to share Pennie’s journey to connect designers and buyers everywhere.
